How to create and manage packaging hierarchy for product data syndication in Configured Channels

Section 1 - How to add packaging hierarchy to a configured channel and display it in the channel

To add packaging hierarchy to the configured channel please follow the steps as below:

  1. Navigate to your Master Data and select the product (member of the hierarchy) that you want to add to your channel.

  2. Pick a product and select the ‘Add to channel’ option on the right side of your screen.

  3. Select options into which channel, category, and receiver you want to add your product, and remember to tick the checkbox 'Add packaging-related products to the channel'. This functionality will add all hierarchy members to the channel.

  4. Four products were added to the channel (all that belong to the packaging hierarchy of the selected product).

  5. Now to be able to see packaging hierarchy in the channel navigate to the channel configuration page to enable packaging hierarchies and specify the direction in which the system will display hierarchy.
    The packaging attribute type is required for specifying hierarchy levels in Excel outputs.

  6. Once the packaging hierarchy option is turned on, packaging hierarchies will be visible in the ‘Packaging’ tab of product details.


Section 2 - How to submit packaging hierarchy and see it in the output file

To be able to submit the packaging hierarchy and see it in the output, perform all the steps mentioned above and then continue with setting up the outputs:

  1. Navigate to the ‘Output’ tab of the configured channel

  2. Select one of the options: ‘Use Excel template or ‘Setup output template’.

    1. For the Excel template please upload the right template

    2. For the Velocity template, please upload the right template

  3. Navigate to the ‘Receivers’ section and click on the pencil icon to edit the settings. Then select the way how you want to deliver the output file (SFTP, HTTP, email, or manual download). remember that option ‘Packaging products attribute reference’ needs to be turned off at this stage.

  4. Go to the channel and select the products you’d like to submit. When you are submitting a product that is a member of a packaging hierarchy - pre-validation will show you which products will be submitted along with the selected product (all the members of the packaging hierarchy).

  5. Navigate to the ‘Administration’ ‘Submissions’. Use the settings option to pick ‘Download submitted data’ to see what and how (format) was outputted. all the levels of the hierarchy (all the products shall be printed in a separate row in an Excel file).
